Summer Tips for Healthier Joints

Now that summer is here, many of us will take advantage of the nicer weather and get outside—to shoot hoops, take a run or go to the park, golf, well, that is, as long as our bodies and joints are cooperating.

Do you have pain in your knees and joints? Does walking or exercising hurt or cause swelling or stiffness? Supartz may be the solution! Supartz is an all natural lubricant and shock absorber that helps replace the joint fluid your body is no longer producing on its own. It is a safe, natural and effective treatment for knee & joint pain.

Ignoring the early signs of joint aches and pains can cause extreme damage to the joint or ligaments and tendons which limit your treatment options. Prevention is the key to all good health and applies to our joints too. Remember, it is our joints that keep us moving long into our later years as long as we take care of them. As many of our patients know, we believe in using food as medicine. As for joint health, antioxidants can play a huge role in helping our body heal damaged tissue by osteoarthritis, daily activities and other daily stressors. Foods that are rich in vitamin C, A, E, and other antioxidants like resveratrol can be very useful in maintaining the health of our joints. Eating the colors of the rainbow (organic vegetables and fruits) is a good start because these foods are naturally high in the nutrients needed for your joint health. However, most of us do not eat enough nutrient rich foods, making dietary supplements necessary. For patients suffering with joint issues, we recommend our Degenerative Joint Care, a glucosamine and MSM for mild osteoarthritis type symptoms as well as other supplements such as Boswellia and omega-3’s that can be very helpful in decreasing inflammation in a safe and natural way.

Other helpful tips to remember: Always warm up and cool down before/after any activity. Our muscles support our joints and that’s why appropriate stretching and muscle strengthening exercises are so important. We were NOT made to be stationary beings— we were made to MOVE! So take care of the joints that keep you moving. Talk to your doctor to see if Supartz Therapy can help you or a family member.
