A Better Answer to Helping ADD/ADHD Kids

According to the CDC website, the number of children 4-17 years of age taking ADHD medication increased from 4.8% in 2007 to 6.1% in 2011. Concerta, Ritalin, Adderal and many other drugs are used to treat children with ADD/ADHD, which always come with side effects, some more severe then others. These side effects include seizures, high blood pressure, headaches, anxiety, stomach and appetite problems, confusion and trouble concentrating which is why they are taking the medication in the first place. These drugs work to change the chemistry in the brain, unfortunately most are prescribed without proper testing to see which neurotransmitter is the problem. So it becomes a guessing game as to which drug to give, if it is really a neurotransmitter problem, since there are other reasons why children have attention issues. So your child may start with one drug, but then gets changed until maybe we hit the “right one”. But why guess? Why not look at the big picture of what is going on in the body and nervous system and correct the problem? No one wants to live on medications for life, especially if you don’t have to, there is another way!

It is not just a matter of checking neurotransmitters like serotonin or dopamine, it’s looking at the body’s chemistry, and how it is working or not working. For instance, a lot of your serotonin is produced in the gut, so if that’s where the problem is, fix the gut and you fix the problem. When helping people with ADD/ADHD we look at the whole picture of what is going on in the body with some simple tests, then use supplements to bring chemistry and function back to normal, instead of harmful drugs that just cover up the symptoms of ADD/ADHD. You have just found a better way, don’t wait, Call today!
